Privacy on This Site

The calculators on this site run in your browser, and the numbers you type into them are never sent to a server.

Your numbers stay in your browser

Every calculator on this site runs in the browser, so the position size, margin or pip value you enter is worked out on your own device. Those figures are not transmitted to us and are not stored on a server.

This means you can test a bitcoin position size without handing over your account balance or your trading plans. The calculation happens locally and the result disappears when you close the page.

Third parties that may see a request and the limits on what they receive

The third parties involved are the hosting provider that serves the pages, the analytics provider that counts visits, and FxPro once you follow a broker link. The hosting provider processes standard request logs. The analytics provider receives aggregate page-view data and a truncated network address, not your name or trading figures. FxPro receives the referral identifier described above and, if you open an account, whatever you choose to give the broker directly under its own privacy policy.

No third party receives the numbers you type into a calculator. Those values stay in your browser and are not posted to a server, so there is no onward transfer to analyse. We do not use advertising networks, social pixels or data brokers on this site. The only third-party code that runs is what is needed for the page to display and for aggregate counting, and it is limited to that purpose rather than being opened up for profiling.

FxPro is the entity that serves South African readers through FxPro Markets Direct Costa Rica Latam SRL, and its own privacy terms govern what happens after you leave this site. FxPro is licensed by the FCA (UK) and CySEC, and an FxPro entity holds an FSCA licence in South Africa — check which entity your own account is opened with. That check matters because the privacy and complaint route follows the entity on your account, not the brand name on the homepage.

Traffic counts and local preferences

We keep only aggregate traffic counts, which tell us how many visits a page received without identifying individual readers. We do not build profiles of readers or sell visitor data.

Local storage on your device holds your own preferences, such as a setting you chose on a calculator. That storage belongs to your browser, and clearing your browser data removes it.

What Bok Chain keeps on its servers and what never leaves your device

Bok Chain stores only the minimum needed to run the site: standard server logs that record the page requested, the time of the request, and a truncated IP address used for security and troubleshooting. Your name, email address, trading account number and broker login are never requested by this site and are therefore never stored. Any figure you type into a calculator, such as a bitcoin position size or a rand value, is processed in your browser and is not transmitted to us.

The site does not create user profiles. There is no account system, no saved watchlist and no personal dashboard, so there is no database row tied to you as an individual. A cookie may remember a display preference such as your chosen currency symbol, but that preference stays on your device and is not linked to any identity. If you contact us by email, we keep that message only so we can reply and resolve the query; it is not added to a marketing list or shared with a broker.

Server logs are kept for a short operational window and are then deleted on a rolling basis. The exact retention period depends on the hosting provider’s log rotation settings, not on a fixed number we publish. What you should assume is that routine logs exist for a limited time for abuse prevention and performance checks, and that they contain no trading data. Nothing about your FxPro account, your ZAR deposits or your open bitcoin positions ever reaches this site’s servers.

Cookies set by brokers

When you follow a link to a broker, that broker sets its own cookies under its own privacy policy. We do not control those cookies and we cannot read what the broker stores.

Read the broker's policy before you open an account, especially if you are funding in rand through a local card, a bank transfer or an e-wallet. The broker, not this desk, is responsible for what it does with your information.

The cookie types this site uses and the job each one performs

Bok Chain uses three kinds of cookie: strictly necessary, preference, and analytics. Strictly necessary cookies keep the site working, for example by remembering that you have dismissed a notice or by helping balance traffic across servers. Preference cookies store a local choice such as whether you prefer amounts shown in rand or dollars. Analytics cookies count visits and page views in aggregate. No cookie on this site is used to build a trading profile or to record a position size you typed.

Each cookie is small and does one job. A necessary cookie might last for the length of your visit, while a preference cookie can persist for longer so the site does not ask the same question on every page. Analytics cookies are set to expire after a period that depends on the analytics provider’s configuration, not on a number we can state here. You can clear all of them from your browser settings at any time, and the site will continue to function; you may simply see a notice again or lose a display preference.

The cookies a broker sets after you follow a link are outside our control and are described under the broker section of this page. Within Bok Chain itself, cookies are not used to serve targeted advertising and are not sold to third parties. If your browser blocks cookies entirely, the calculators and written guides still work because they do not depend on cookies to run. The only loss is convenience, such as a remembered preference, which is a deliberate trade-off in favour of keeping the site usable without tracking.

Retention windows, what removes data, and how a policy change reaches you

Different things are kept for different lengths of time. Server logs are kept for a short rolling window set by the hosting provider and then overwritten. An email you send is kept only while the query is open and for a brief period afterwards so a follow-up can be answered, then deleted. Calculator inputs are never stored at all, so there is no retention period to quote: closing the tab removes them. Preference cookies last until they expire or you clear them.

Deletion happens in three ways: automatic expiry for logs and cookies, manual deletion when an email query is closed, and your own action when you clear browser storage. You do not need to ask us to delete a calculator figure because it never left your device. If you want an email thread removed sooner than the routine window, ask and we will delete it unless it is needed for an open complaint or a legal obligation.

A change to this policy is announced by updating this page and marking the revision date at the top, so the current version is always the one you are reading. We do not send policy emails because we do not hold a mailing list. If a change affects what is collected, the new text will say so plainly rather than burying it. Continuing to use the site after the revision date means the updated policy applies to your visit.

Affiliate links in plain terms and what they do and do not change

Some links from Bok Chain to FxPro are affiliate links. If you follow one and later open an account, Bok Chain may receive a payment from the broker. That payment does not change what you pay, does not affect the spread or commission on your account, and does not give us access to your trading history or your personal details. The link is a referral, not a data pipe, and we do not receive your name, email or account number from FxPro.

Affiliate tracking works by placing a cookie or a parameter on the link so the broker can tell that a visit came from this site. That identifier is created when you click and is read by the broker, not by us. We do not combine it with anything you typed into a calculator. The arrangement is disclosed so you can weigh our content knowing that a commercial relationship exists, and it is the reason we can keep the guides and tools free to read.

The editorial rule is that affiliate status never decides whether a risk is mentioned. Leverage is described as a cap, not a target, and the margin example at 1:200 for retail shows the real cash commitment on a 0.10-lot bitcoin position. If a broker’s cost structure is not something we have a number for, we say what the cost consists of and what it depends on rather than calling it cheap. You are free to reach FxPro without using our link; the account terms are the same.

Your rights over anything held about you and the practical way to use them

You have the right to ask what personal information, if any, Bok Chain holds about you, to have it corrected, and to have it deleted where there is no overriding reason to keep it. In practice the answer is usually that we hold nothing beyond an email you sent us. To exercise a right, write to the contact address on the site, state what you want, and we will confirm what exists and act on it. We do not require an account or a password because none exists.

Because the site does not profile readers, most requests resolve quickly: there is no trading record to export and no marketing profile to suppress. If you have emailed us, you can ask for that message and our reply to be deleted, and we will remove them unless they are needed to resolve an open query. You also control cookies directly through your browser, which lets you withdraw consent to analytics without contacting anyone.

Under South African data protection law you may also complain to the Information Regulator if you believe a request has not been handled properly. We would rather fix the issue first, so the contact route is the faster path for a missing reply or a deletion you expected. Rights are not conditional on using an affiliate link or on holding a FxPro account. They apply to every reader in South Africa regardless of how you arrived at the page.

FAQ

Common questions

What information does Bok Chain collect when I visit the site?

The site collects what you choose to send, such as a message through the contact form, and standard technical data that browsers and servers exchange, such as pages requested and approximate location. We do not ask for account numbers, passwords or broker login details, and you should not supply them. Any analytics used is for understanding which pages are read.

Do you store the messages I send to the desk?

Yes, correspondence is kept so we can follow up and keep a record of correction reports. We keep it only as long as needed for that purpose. We do not sell reader messages, and we do not pass them to a broker without your knowledge. Do not include sensitive personal or financial details in a message.

Does the site use cookies and can I turn them off?

The site may use cookies for basic functionality and for measuring readership. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some features may then behave differently. Blocking cookies does not stop you reading the pages or using the calculators, which run in your browser rather than on our servers.

Is my data shared with FxPro or any other broker?

No. Bok Chain does not pass reader data to FxPro or any other broker. If you click a link to a broker and open an account, that firm collects your information under its own privacy terms, and you deal with it directly. Read the broker's policy before submitting identity documents or bank details to it.

How do I ask for a copy of my data or its deletion?

Contact the desk using the details on this site and state what you want copied or removed. We will confirm what we hold, which is normally limited to your correspondence and basic technical logs, and act on a reasonable request. We may need to keep a record of a correction report even after a deletion request.
